These cute little owls are perfect hot or cold packs for your kids (or for those of you who love owls and are no longer kids). Now while these cute little owls are sold on Etsy via LilyRoseCraft, they wouldn’t be that hard to make yourself. In fact, over at natasha she has a fun tutorial of how she made her own version of these cute little owls.
These little hot packs or cold packs would be perfect as hand warmers, hot packs to ease sore muscles (or constipation in little ones), or ice packs for bumps and bruises. Make them in a variety of creatures for your child’s favorite animals and enjoy their wonder over your craftiness. I would make at least a couple, depending on how many people are in your household. At least one hot and one cold pack for each family member, that way no one is left out. And if one of the cold ones don’t get put back in the fridge right away, you’ll have a few extras.
Warning! Follow instructions and only put the hot packs in for 30 seconds! If you make a bigger one, put it in for 30 second intervals until you get it the heat you want it. Don’t risk burning yourself or your children. And always mash the rice around between each heating session to make sure you’ve mixed the rice and check for extra hot spots. Rice doesn’t always heat evenly in the microwave.
