Cool idea? No? It all begins with a large over sized sweatshirt. The larger the better. You want to make sure the sweatshirt is large enough so that once it is cut it can overlap in the front and fit you well. You don’t want to purchase your correct size as when you cut the sweatshirt it will be too small to cut and overlap in the front. It simply won’t work.
Step 1: Cut the sweatshirt in the front down the middle.
Step 2: Turn the sweatshirt inside out.
Step 3: Sew 3 over sized buttons down the left side of the sweatshirt. The buttons don’t have to match the sweatshirt. They don’t have to match each other. This makes the shirt more interesting.
Step 4: Sew 3 button holes where the shirt will overlap and button close.
Step 5: cut the seam on the left and right size of the sweatshirt to make it fit your figure more snug.
Step 6: Sew the left and right seams
Step 7: Sew a hem on the front (where you previously cut) to make the sweatshirt more neat in appearance.
Step 8: Try the sweatshirt on to make sure it fits. Adjust according to your size and your fashion sense.
It’s that simple! If you look at the picture you will notice the seams are all on the front side of the sweatshirt. You can sew a button on each cuff using any left over buttons.
